The Role

Working under an experienced Crew Leader, you will:

  • Patrol high‑risk areas during the Fire Danger Period

  • Carry out first attack bushfire suppression, mop‑up and blacking out

  • Undertake standby, patrols and readiness activities on high‑risk days

  • Complete daily and weekly vehicle checks and basic maintenance

  • Operate pumps, hoses and small tools in line with standard operating procedures

  • Identify and report hazardous trees and other safety issues

  • Participate in regular training, drills and safety briefings

  • Comply with JSEA requirements and all site inductions

  • Undergo routine alcohol (daily) and random drug screening

Standard working hours are Mon–Fri 07:00–18:00 and Sat 07:00–13:00, subject to fire conditions and operational needs.

Must Have

Please do not apply unless you meet all of the following:

  • At least one season of bushfire firefighting experience
    (e.g. CFA / FFMVic / forestry / contractor crew)

  • Manual driver’s licence

  • Construction Induction (White Card / CPCWHS1001)

  • Able to pass a pre‑employment medical plus drug & alcohol test

  • Fit for physically demanding outdoor work in hot, smoky conditions

  • Willing to work under supervision and follow direction

Highly Regarded

  • CFA / FFMVic / FRV or equivalent bushfire qualifications and inductions

  • Experience working around plantations, construction sites or heavy plant

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

For the right candidates who meet the mandatory requirements, recognition of prior learning (RPL) and additional training can be arranged to align you with the required national units of competency.
